Career history

While currently in government as a non-partisan civil servant, my career has bridged between government and private industry in business-to-business, healthcare, and sales software.

  1. 18F

    A digital services consulting team of designers, software engineers, strategists, and product managers within the General Services Administration of the U.S. Government, helping other government agencies build, buy, and share technology products.

    1. Chief of Delivery

      Oversaw delivery of $32 million of projects annually across 13 federal agencies, analyzing practices and making systemic improvements to organizational capacity projections and targeting business development activities. Supervised the Director of Account Management, supporting billing, invoicing, and inter-agency agreements.

    2. Engineering Director

      Led team of 9 supervisors and 36 engineers, supporting performance management, coaching, and training. Hired 51 engineers to join the federal workforce (including 17 at 18F) and refined equitable hiring guides.

    3. Engineering Supervisor

      Led team of 7 Consulting Software Engineers, supporting performance management, coaching, and training. Developed interfaces for faq.coronavirus.gov amidst the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic; supported vendor oversight of U.S. Tax Court’s DAWSON team to enable launch in December 2020.

    4. Consulting Software Engineer

      Prototyped interfaces for NIH National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences’ Biomedical Translator program. Developed a modernization pathway for NOAA Office of Water Prediction’s National Water Model. Assisted the Army Research Lab in analyzing open source procedures to increase open source participation.

    1. Frontend Developer

      Worked on cross-functional teams to deliver product features leveraging feature-flags for continuous iteration. Maintained popular open-source front-end library (Chosen) and redesigned JavaScript widget on third-party pages. Designed and implemented front and back-end of WebSocket-based real-time messaging system, supporting 30k simultaneous active connections and 1k messages per second.

  3. Softek Solutions, Inc.

    A software company providing software and consulting services for Cerner Millennium hospitals, offering a comprehensive range of optimization, monitoring, and consulting services.

    1. Software Engineer

      Worked directly with radiologists on-site at University of Tennessee to design and develop an application to track incidental findings within radiology exams using iterative research and design. Led charge to transition to automated puppet deployments of products. Globalized and assisted in localization of software into French and English. Participated in on-call rotation for maintaining software and hardware installations within 15 hospitals.
